Badger Balm Lip Tints – review and giveaway

September 23, 2012 by beautyin ·

Don’t you just love two-in-one things? At Beauty Info Zone, you get two different perspectives – a Lisa perspective and a Marcia perspective – all in one blog. With Badger Balm Lip Tints + Shimmer . you get two lip products in one – a natural mineral lip tint and a lip shimmer. And with this post, you also get two things – a review and a giveaway!

Badger Balm Lip Tints ($5.99) are totally natural tinted lip balms with a color side and a shimmer side. They come in four different shades: Copper. Rose Tourmaline. Red Jasper. and Garnet. The color side is the same formula as their popular Cocoa Butter Lip Balm . but with tinted minerals to give your lips a pop of sheer color.

Opal Shimmer, this is the same on all 4 lip tints

The opposite side is an opalescent shimmer that you can wear over the color for some depth, or alone to give your lips some life.

They have no fragrance, and are made with certified organic ingredients like Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Aloe Vera, and Cocoa Butter. The tinted color comes from Iron Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, Silica, and Mica – all safe, USP grade minerals. Read on to find out what Lisa and Marcia think about these multi-tasking gems.

Do you love red lips on everyone except yourself? Give Red Jasper a try, it’s a sheer cool red that will look terrific on anyone.

It gives just enough color to make your lips look healthy and pretty. The lip balm is wonderfully moisturizing and has a terrific texture, making your lips soft and moist but not sticky at all.

I like this color with the Opal Shimmer over it, which gives it a very slight purplish tint and light shimmer. My only gripe is if you apply the opalescent side directly from the applicator, the tint color gets on it, which looks messy. So I use my finger to apply the opalescent side and it keeps the balm looking clean.

Garnet is a sheer berry color. This is a very pretty, natural shade that is a great alternative to lipstick.

Sometimes I don’t want the heaviness of lipstick, but my lips have very little pigment so I always need some color on them or they disappear. Garnet is a great option, it looks natural on me but there’s just enough color to brighten up my lips. When I add the Opal Shimmer on top, it makes my lips look more full. I really love these lip balms and I keep one near me all the time now.

For the days that you want your lips to be protected but you just want a tiny hint of color try Rose Tourmaline. On my lips this is definitely a nude but not the kind of nude that makes your lips look like they’ve had “White Out” or concealer applied to them. It’s just a very natural shade adding a little color and shine along with the protection and moisturizing that these give your lips. This is the one Badger Balm Lip Tint + Shimmer that everyone should have. It comes in handy 24/7.

Copper has a beautiful coppery orange tone to it. It is such a fall shade to me. What I find with copper is that the pressure I use to apply it changes the shade. I can get it super dark or I can use a light amount of pressure and get just a hint of color on my lips. While I don’t use the shimmer side often with Rose Tourmaline, I do use it with Copper even though Copper has a slight shimmer of its own. The difference though is that if I have put too much on and want the color to lighten up, I’ll add the shimmer side.

One thing we have to note is that when we say shimmer we don’t mean glitter. These are in no way glittery. The shimmer side just adds an opalescence that gives you an option.
